Ball Cap – Undyed Selvedge Twill/Cotton Twill, Ecru/Taupe
Style and construction
Built by hand from an original pattern, the Maryon Mfg. Ball Cap draws inspiration from the golden age of early- to mid-century styles.
This two-tone cap features a crown made from an undyed, 10oz handloom selvedge cotton twill. This is a loose weave, breathable fabric with characteristic slub, irregularity and dark flecks – please note that these qualities are part of its charm and are not considered defects.
For the visor, button and rear adjuster, I have used a contrasting Japanese sanded cotton twill in taupe, as well as a green Japanese cotton twill under the visor.
The front two crown panels are backed with horsehair canvas, a detail borrowed from vintage caps that provides subtle structure without compromising comfort.
Choose from two sizes and either a matching selvedge fabric rear adjuster, or a veg tan leather strap with solid brass rivets and D rings (see last photo).
Each cap is individually cut and sewn by hand on a 1950 Singer machine, with careful attention paid at every stage of construction.
Built to last and improve with age and wear.
